Why the SWRC is leaving X and where you can find us

Image shows an illustration of a loudspeaker on a pink and blue background. The loudspeaker is purple and blue. It faces to the right and a yellow cloud is coming from the speaker to illustrate noise.

At the SWRC we have historically used X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook and LinkedIn to keep survivors updated about our services and resources, and to keep the legal and wider GBV community informed about training and development opportunities. But today we’re announcing that, as of December, we will no longer be using X.

Our decision follows that of our partners, JustRight Scotland and Rape Crisis Scotland, and a number of other organisations and individuals across Scotland. Like them, we are concerned about changes in recent years which have resulted in the spread of misinformation and a lack of moderation, meaning we cannot ensure a safe experience for our staff or followers.

We will be keeping our account open so that our previous posts are still visible, but we will no longer post content or monitor the account after November 30th 2025.

We will continue to use Facebook and LinkedIn to share our updates, resources and training. Important information like changes to services or helpline availability will always be posted on the relevant pages of this website. We’re also exploring the possibility of joining other social media platforms - if we do so, we’ll keep you updated here on our site, and on existing social media pages.

Thanks for your support and for keeping up-to-date with our work. Make sure to join us on Facebook and LinkedIn for all our latest news.
