We are working on ways to make our legal services more accessible under the current circumstances.
This is why we are now offering urgent legal appointments for the duration of the ‘stay at home’ measures against COVID-19/coronavirus.
Our Urgent Legal Appointments will happen by video call or telephone and will be available for women with an urgent issue who could benefit from tailored legal advice.
To access an appointment, women can contact our legal helpline at our usual opening times or shortly through a new e-mail service we are currently developing. Our solicitors will then assess whether an urgent legal appointment is the best option and offer a time slot.
Appointments will last up to 1 hour and they will take place on Tuesdays, 10am to 1pm.
Each case is unique and so it is impossible to include a list of specific situations that would count as urgent.
Our solicitors will work with each woman to consider whether they would benefit from an urgent legal appointment or any of our other services.
That being said, some examples of urgent cases could be those where the COVID-19 situation and measures around it has had a direct impact on a woman’s safety or where there is an upcoming deadline.
The safety of the women we work with is of great importance to us. This is why we ask that any woman contacting our services identifies a safe and comfortable place to make the call.
We understand many women are currently living with their abusive partner/ex-partner and that it may prove difficult to find a safe place to talk. This is why, in the next few days we will launch an alternative e-mail service for women in this situation.
For any other emotional or practical support, please check our list of support services available for women during COVID-19 here.
