Today we release our new legal guide on pursuing claims for civil damages for victim-survivors of gender-based violence.
Even when a case of gender-based violence does not result in a criminal conviction, it may be possible to seek financial compensation from the perpetrator. This guide outlines factors to consider when deciding whether or not to make a claim, the risks and benefits of a civil damages claim, and what can be compensated for.
After the successful AR v Coxen case, where our client Miss M succeeded in establishing in civil proceedings that she was raped even after an unsuccessful prosecution, we want to inform others who may want to seek this form of justice. Read the full guide here.
